Membership Policy
Effective Date: September 17, 2023
1. Overview
Africa2World Foundation ("the Foundation") welcomes individuals and families to join our community as members. This Membership Policy outlines the terms, benefits, and responsibilities associated with membership in our organization.
2. Membership Tiers & Fees
Membership fees are paid on an annual basis to support the Foundation's mission. The current membership tiers are as follows:
- Individual Membership: $50 per year.
- Family Membership: $120 per year (covers up to 4 family members).
- Patron Membership: $500 per year.
*Fees are subject to review and change by the Board of Directors.
3. Member Benefits
Members enjoy exclusive benefits based on their tier, designed to deepen their engagement with our cultural and educational programs:
- Individual: Access to all programs, newsletter subscription, event discounts, community forum access, and a digital membership card.
- Family: All Individual benefits plus coverage for up to 4 family members, priority event registration, access to family workshops, and exclusive family events.
- Patron: All Family benefits plus VIP event access, annual recognition, invitations to special board meetings or receptions, tax-deductible donation opportunities, and named sponsorship opportunities.
4. Membership Terms
Memberships are valid for one year (12 months) from the date of enrollment or renewal. Memberships are personal and non-transferable. While membership provides access to benefits and community participation, it does not confer voting rights regarding the governance of the Foundation unless explicitly stated in the Foundation's Bylaws for specific classes of members.
5. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Members may cancel their membership at any time by contacting the Foundation. However, because membership fees are considered a form of support for the Foundation's charitable mission, they are generally non-refundable once paid, except where required by applicable consumer protection laws.
6. Member Responsibilities
To maintain a welcoming and productive community, members are expected to:
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Africa2World Foundation.
- Treat other members, staff, volunteers, and participants with respect and dignity.
- Comply with the Foundation's Anti-Discrimination Policy and Code of Conduct at all times.
The Foundation reserves the right to revoke or suspend membership for conduct that is detrimental to the organization's reputation, operations, or community safety.
7. Legal Compliance & Tax Information
Africa2World Foundation is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Connecticut and is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Membership fees may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Generally, the deductible amount is the total payment minus the fair market value of any goods or services received in exchange for the membership. The Foundation will provide acknowledgement of membership payments for tax purposes. Please consult your tax advisor for specific advice regarding your situation.
